desk research
The mind map was the heart of our brainstorming process, connecting gameplay mechanics, visual styles, and narrative ideas. It allowed us to explore creative possibilities and refine them into a cohesive and engaging concept.

To ensure the game resonated with players, we developed detailed personas representing our target audience. These personas guided our decisions on gameplay, art style, and storytelling, ensuring an immersive experience tailored to our players’ preferences.

Our game started with a clear debriefing session, where we defined the project’s goals, audience, and vision. This laid the foundation for a creative and well-structured development process, ensuring every team member was aligned from the start.

We conducted thorough desk research to analyze industry trends, competitors, and player behavior. This informed our design choices and ensured our game stood out in a competitive market.
Our desk research provided valuable insights into industry trends, player preferences, and successful gameplay mechanics. This allowed us to refine our concept, focus on features that resonate with our target audience, and position our game uniquely in the market. The research ensured a strong foundation for a game that is both innovative and appealing.
field research

During our field research, we interviewed a volunteer at the Voedselbank cafeteria and an 18-year-old to understand their perspectives on the game concept. The volunteer shared insights into the daily operations of the Voedselbank and the importance of raising awareness. The young participant provided valuable feedback on game design, engaging mini-games and a smooth flow between locations.

For our field research, we planned interviews with key individuals to gain insights.
Voedselbank Volunteer: We aimed to interview a volunteer to understand the organization’s history, challenges, daily operations, and how creative initiatives like ours could support their mission.
Potential Player (18-year-old): We also planned to interview a young individual to gather feedback on the game concept, ensuring it would resonate with our target audience and remain engaging.

A collection of pictures that we took. We took pictures of many different location in Antwerp. That we we could decide wich locations we where going to pick.
Evaluate the logistical feasibility of each location and its potential for hosting engaging mini-games.
Understand the daily operations of the Voedselbank and align our game to raise awareness effectively.
Gather feedback from a young participant to fine-tune game mechanics and ensure they appeal to the target audience.
This research gave us a strong foundation to design an impactful, educational, and entertaining location-based game.
